Pseudo Bricks

The irony of these pseudo brick walls is beneath the layers of paint are real "beautifully imperfect" brick walls.

I 100% DISAGREE with painting over bricks. Its very sad that the original beauty of bricks are hidden just like that...

why don't they sandblast the old paint off? It looks terrible this way.
I have to look at it every day. I live in that block :(

In your post on Nov 4th the linked images state that the Town Council said they woudl REMOVE the old paint from the bricks. What happened to that plan?

Can we complain?

I was told Town Council ran out of funds to remove the paint.

I think Town Council stopped painting the Pseudo Bricks colours as they might revert back to the white colour.

I supposed that is the better compromise.

Hi again,

I just called spoke to someone from the TC. They confirmed they will repaint the area in white! Too many people did not like the brown brick-look color.

I asked about the removal of the paint and the person stated they cannot remove the paint and plaster across the bricks as it will look patchy and even worse.

but at least they will make it all white! Indeed the lesser of 2 evil

Hmm... so painting over bricks to all sorts of colors are allowed in conserved houses...interesting...

The brick wall was painted over before this place was conserved.

YS, you are right. They should restore it however tough it might be. Otherwise why put it under conservation where there is no real effort to protect it.

Hello! update update... the problem was not just painting over the original bricks, but there was actually plaster over the bricks too... On conservation guidlines, they do not allow for uncovered original bricks to be painted over in ANY COLOUR at all, but for those that were painted over before being gazetted for conservation, they are encouraged to remove the paint, but its not mandatory, just best practice, because its additional cost....
